Families with children

„Can you have the popcorn please?“

A small family anecdote – this was the way our youngster (native language Swiss German), by this time 3 ½ years old, ordered some Popcorn refill at Thulhagiri Island showing the waiter the empty bowl.

Children are always welcome on the Maldives as all the staff members are very child friendly. More and more families are discovering the Maldives as an ideal destination for seaside tourism. The relaxing ambiance on the islands, shoes remain in the suitcase, swimsuit as your daily outfit,  building sand castles, playing football on the beach with daddy, paddling in the lagoon, discovering the island, snorkelling and admiring brilliantly coloured fish, counting the stars at night…

Children 8 years and older can get their first diving experience in the lagoon and from 10 years on they can be certified in the  Junior Open Water course.

All resorts are ideal for a beautiful family holiday, however some islands offer special activities such as a Kids' Club. Children from 3-4 years old can join, younger ones must be accompanied by either mum, dad or a babysitter (subject to fee). Other resorts have a special kids paddling pool, playground or offer a babysitting service.

For security reasons children under 12 years are not allowed in water bungalows;  some resorts also have restrictions where kids are not allowed in certain room categories.
